Alicia was born and raised in Providence, RI. At 6 years old, after taking her first flight on a family trip, she knew she loved flying. While growing up she also discovered her love for sports (playing and watching) as well as a passion for serving others, teaching and coaching. Though she always had an interest in aviation she earned a scholarship to play collegiate soccer and chose to follow that path. She attended Emerson College in Boston, MA. earning a bachelor degree in communication sciences. Alicia continued to live in Boston and went on to earn a Master of Science in Speech Pathology from Northeastern University, graduating with an award for top academic excellence.
Alicia began her career working as a medical based Speech Pathologist within the hospital setting in addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate level Speech Pathology courses at the University of Rhode Island before relocating from New England to the beautiful upstate of South Carolina in 2015.
Alicia’s professional success also coincided with immense personal growth, and in April 2020, at the height of COVID her son was born. Alicia’s perspective on life and the priorities for herself and her family were changed. Alicia realized that life is too short not to pursue your passion or chase a dream. This realization led her to transition out of her career, her comfort zone, and she made the decision to finally pursue her dream of becoming an airline pilot.
As an individual Alicia has an immense desire to succeed, always pursuing perfection and personal growth, dedicated to achieving her goals, never intimidated by adversity. These traits were driving forces in her ability to successfully complete her own flight training in just over a year with an infant turned toddler at home. Coupling those traits with her communication style and previous experience in leadership, and teaching roles has been paramount in Alicia’s success in earning her Gold Seal for Flight Instruction and her ability to earn a position as First Officer, flying the Airbus (A320) in under 3 years from the onset of her flight training.
Besides flying, Alicia has a passion for teaching and mentorship. She loves to see the “gears click” for her students and truly loves helping people achieve their goals while striving to create an individualized approach for each student. More than anything, Alicia is motivated each day by the desire to exemplify to her son (and others) that with a strong work ethic, persistence in the face of adversity, and the ability to pivot in response to life’s obstacles, will not only lead to success- but will also allow us to grow and find out who we are truly capable of becoming and what we are able to achieve.
When she is not flying you can find her at the playground with her son, spending time with family, watching or playing sports, cooking up Italian food, or baking her famous chocolate chip cookies.
