I first boarded an airplane at 11 years old and instantly fell in love with simply not being on the ground. When I turned 19, I began working in a factory, still desiring to fly, but not having any direction since I didn't have any aviators in my family or inner circle. I had basically shelved the idea of flying when I was talking about it to a co-worker who did not understand why I was not pursuing my dream when I had ability to do it. It was "lightbulb" moment, and so I started looking into flight school.

After a decade of chipping away at my goals and overcoming numerous adversities (some expected, some completely unanticipated and somewhat demoralizing), I have achieved the first step in my ambitions.

I believe the obstacles I faced and length of time I spent working to pay for training gave me the opportunity to discover where my passion truly lies; as I have worked as a teacher in other fields, I have come to truly develop love, not just for aviation, but for instructing. There are few things more rewarding than watching a student's eyes light up as they have their own "lightbulb" moments.
